Students are about to apply their new-found memory skills to the functions of the body and brain.  This is known as Biological Psychology

The Memory Lab

 

-Students are to create a fair memory test using pieces supplied in class. They are to administer the test to at least six different subjects and record their results for further conclusions.  All memory labs are to be written in proper lab format with clear results, observations, and conclusions.

Parts of the Brain

 

Students read pages 164-168 and discussed the different parts of the brain.  We watched a video in class to help us memorize the parts of the brain

 

Students were given a handout with worksheets on parts of the brain.  Students are to complete the first two pages of these handouts prior to class on Wednesday.

Human Development - the Baby years

 

We will be studying the psychological development of humans throughout the various stages of their lives.  We begin with the baby years.

Early Development to Parenting

 

Students have been studying Piaget's steps of development.  Students are assigned to complete w handouts given in class.  One is on parenting styles and identifying terms related to parenting and development.  The other handout analyzes the cognitive development of children based on their drawings of people.

 

*Students are assigned to read pages 78-86 to help them with their assignments and to help prepare for the term final

Term Final is coming on Thursday, Nov. 10

 

All students are aware that they have a term final to be written on Thurs. Nov. 10.  If they are aware that they will be unable to make this date they must arrange for an alternative time to write PRIOR TO NOV. 10.  Any student that fails to do this will be considered to have refused to write their formal evaluation.  See Mr. E if you need help with this.

Critical Thinking in Developmental Psychology

 

Students are asked to complete p.88 of their textbook in preparation for their term final next week.  Specifically: students are asked to complete the "critical thinking" questions on a separate piece of note paper to hand in for assessment.

Freud's Theories as related to developmental psychology

 

In the near future students will be observing examples of psychoanalysis as portrayed in the cinema.  To compare we will first learn a bit about Sigmund Freud who created what came to be known as psychoanalysis.

Test and Preparation for Wed. Class

 

Today we had a test on Developmental Psychology.  Many students missed today's class and did not let Mr. E know ahead of time.  These students are reminded that the test policy is that if you know you will not be in class you must make alternative arrangements at least 48 hours in advance.  Otherwise you are expected to provide a doctors note explaining your absence.  Without alternative arrangements or a doctors note your absence is considered a "skip" and you will forfeit your formal assessment. 

 

Once tests were completed students worked on their assignment that is due on Wed.  As well, students are assigned to read pages 363-368 for Wed. class. 

 

*Students are reminded that assigned pages are considered homework and are subject to "homework checks"
