     -Just click on the link and you will have a copy of the assignment or you may even watch some of the videos I have shown you in class.

*If you cannot open a link or if the assignment you are looking for is not in this list then please ask for help and I will provide you a copy.

-Students have been working on a business plan spreadsheet.  We are having an in-class test of skills with this assignment.

Recovering ratios and comparing similar triangles -text, handout from class, protractor, ingenuity

-Students have been looking at triangles and are about to use ratios to find indirect measurements.  Students are asked to complete the worksheet reviewing ratios in preparation for the textbook questions.

-Students are moving into trigonometry using Sin, Cos, and Tan.  We created some notes in class together (students who missed class today will want to find someone with good notes to copy

Similar Triangles Applied to the World -handout, pencil, calculator

-Students have been studying similar triangles.  We completed a handout in class reviewing the concepts and then applying them to real-world examples of using similar triangles Math to solve problems.

Purchase review unit -in-class activity quiz, textbook, paper, pen, calculator

-Students are reviewig previous materials dealing with purchasing and extending their learning to complete the unit.  We are starting with concepts in percents (sale pricing and purchasing)

 

-We did a practice in-class pop-quiz based on the previous unit and the current on.  Click the link below for the material reviewed.

-Students were assigned to cover pages 227-228 #'s 1-5

 
Real-world triangles -textbook, sci. calculator, paper, pen

-Students are to read pages 324-325 and complete #'s 2,3,4 and 6.  These are examples of real-world use for triangles.  Students will need to follow certain steps for each question...

1) Draw a picture of the question in order to make it clear

2) find out if it is Sin, Cos, or Tan that is needed

3) Write our the formula and complete

 
Percent - Review to Purchases and Sales -in-class instruction, handout of assignment, paper, pen, calculator

-Students are revisiting percent from simple problems to real-world word problems.  Students are assigned to complete the questions in the assignment below.  If they hand in their assignment on time they will get it back before their next quiz and be able to use their work to help them complete their formal assessment.

Rate -textbook, in-class activities, paper, pen, calculator

-Students are exploring purchases and pay-scales.  To help us understand we are doing a study on "Rate".  Students are assigned to read pages 229-233 and complete questions 1-6.

 
Pop-quiz April 21 -be present, have a pen, paper, and a calculator

-Student had a pop-quiz in class from a powerpoint file.  They will have a similar one next week.

-Students are wrapping up their review of purchases.  They are assigned to observe pages...

244-246 #’s 1-8 (wrap up of the unit – summary)

 

-students will have a mini-quiz relating to this and the previous assignment on page 233. 

 
Business Decisions Quiz -quiz, calculator, pen, notes from the previous assignment

-On Monday we reviewed all the steps of the assignment on page 246 of the textbook.  Students were informed that their test on Tues would be almost exactly like the assignment covered in class and that they could use the assignment as a study sheet during the activity.  On Tuesday students completed the quiz.

Purchases with decimals -the usual items

-Students observed a sample problem in class of unit pricing to make a consumer decision.  Students were asked to complete an assignment converting between units.  This will help them develop skills for the upcoming consumer decision assignments.

Students balanced a group problem today establishing which was the best possible pay being offered by an employer.  To solve this problem students needed to engage in an exponential problem solving approach.

Best Price purchase decisions -in class problems

-Students have been reviewing purchase decision based on unit price measurements.  Students were asked to complete some questions based on the activities completed in class.  Click the link below for a copy of the assignment.

Reviewing purchases   Students were assigned to complete questions 1-8 on pages 240-241 of the text to practice their skills for the next Quiz (Which is this Friday!)  
Currency Exchange -in-class discussion and activities, paper, pen, and claculator

-Students observed some sample problems dealing with currency exchange.  Students were asked to participate in an in-class activity practicing currency exchange problems.

Review -Paying close attention

-Students are studying to review for their final exam.  Each class this week will be spent covering questions together that we have covered throughout the year.  Students who pay close attention now will have a great opportunity to prepare for the final exam.
